The last couple of days I have had the marriage triangle on my mind. I have seen this triangle used in lessons, on-line and discussed in books. This time though the empty space in the triangle was sticking out at me like a sore thumb! What is up with the empty space? How do husband and wife who have chosen to let God be a focus in their relationship, make sure they are growing together in the same purpose? My husband and I have always been spiritual and tried to follow guidelines to increase that spirituality. But we still have had times where we weren't feeling like we were growing together. What about the space between the man and wife on the triangle, how are we to grow closer together up the triangle to our Creator? Just because you say your I do's and put on a ring and strive to live a relationship close to God, doesn't mean your story is complete and you lived happily ever after. There is all that space inside the triangle! That is space to grow and learn and to stretch and seek. To strive for and work for and to FIGHT for! It is space to be humble and learn, and say I am sorry. And what can I do to help? The space is where you will create happiness and joy. Love and laughter. Tears and pain. Trials and successes. The space is where you will learn to be a partner in your partnership. The space is left there for us to be able to experience the blessing of marriage, man and woman. The space is a gift to us to be able to experience pure JOY. Yes I said it, marriage is a union that we are meant to feel that feeling of pure JOY!
What fills your space? God wants us to have JOY in our marriages. He wants us to be IN love and to FEEL loved. He wants us to grow closer together as we move closer to him. He is at the center of everything good and right. Ask yourself, "Am I experiencing all that I want to experience out of my marriage?" If your answer is YES then keep doing what your doing! If you answer is not a resounding YES, it is never to late to start your journey to a JOYFUL marriage union.
